Tony's journey began at age fifteen when he relocated from his home in Mexico to Houston. His first opportunity in Houston was working in a Mexican restaurant. Tony and Gabriel worked very hard and soon became waiters and not just any waiters, very good ones.
He worked for several different Mexican restaurants in Houston before getting his chance to become a manager. Managing a restaurant had always been Tony's goal.While Tony was a restaurant manager he opened his first Taqueria and made as much money in two days, on the weekend, as he did all week managing the restaurant. Realizing the ability to make money selling food he had prepared,Tony decided to try the restaurant business himself.
About the same time, a restaurant in Tony's home neighborhood became available for purchase. Once again, Tony accepted the challenge. He sold his Taqueria in 1992, secured additional financing and opened Tony's Mexican Restaurant in the current location on Ella Boulevard.
By the time Tony's was open for business, Tony along with his family decided to make a life here. Tony's recipes were brought to make this place a very successful restaurant in town. Tony attributes his success to God's Grace, hard work, talent, family loyalty and recipes.
